Despite living with challenging health conditions, Albert Hay, 76 from Dufftown near Aberdeen and retired weaver, has experienced a dramatic improvement to his life thanks to a new, all weather TGA mobility scooter. Albert was originally born in Buckie on the Moray Firth coast of Scotland and before retirement, he was an active member of the local community whilst working as a highly skilled weaver. He worked for 20 years at the renowned Johnstons of Elgin Woollen Mill that was established in the late 18th century. Albert was responsible for producing the highest grade, tartans, tweeds and cashmere fabrics for discerning clients all over the world. During his time at the mill, he accurately manufactured materials for businesses such as Caledonian Airways and even pure cashmere fabrics, with interwoven silks, for middle-eastern Sheiks. These bespoke designs required Albert and 200 other specialists to weave with utmost accuracy, as cashmere is so expensive and the Johnston brand had such a leading reputation worldwide. Following Albert's decision to take early retirement from weaving, he spent time as a local gardener however his health began to deteriorate due to diabetes. Today, he lives with restricted mobility and an intense programme of medication to keep his condition stable. Life in his sheltered accommodation was becoming increasingly restrictive until he discovered a new all-weather, Breeze Midi 4 mobility scooter from TGA. His house-bound life and wellbeing have now been dramatically improved as Albert can access the local town, clinic and countryside with peace of mind. Regarding his scooter Albert said: "My life can be quite difficult these days as I have 29 pills to take each morning however my TGA scooter has made such an amazing difference to my life. I've just recovered from having severely ulcerated legs and a period in Aberdeen hospital, however I'm feeling so much better, especially as I can now enjoy the fresh air. I drive my TGA Breeze to the local leg clinic and when the sun is shining, I can be outside most of the day as its battery range is so good. I can even have my lunch at the local hotel which makes a nice change and the all-weather canopy lets me go outside even when it's raining." Albert concluded: "I will never forget my many enjoyable years weaving and creating such beautiful cashmere materials as I'm passionate about Scottish tradition. It's great I can still relive these days when out and about on my Breeze as I now regularly bump into old colleagues when driving around. I'd like to thank Harry Reed from TGA for making such a difference to my life."
