The folding range of TGA Minimo scooters provide maximum transportability as they are compact, lightweight and easy to store. This impressive 62-acre campus includes St Piers School and College, extensive research facilities including a telemetry unit, rehabilitation departments, outreach services and residential halls – catering for around 210 students of which two thirds reside on site. As part of its programme to continually enhance service, the charity has invested in a new Gemini bath which has been installed in one of the residential halls. This specialist power assisted bath has been chosen to provide safe and more comfortable bathing for disabled students along with ergonomic working heights for carers. TGA, the trusted specialist in mobility scooters and wheelchairs, will be unveiling its revolutionary new award-winning WHILL powered wheelchair at The 2017 Mobility Roadshow (NAEC Stoneleigh, 1-3 June 2017, Hall 1, stand B6 and Test Track).
For over 30 years TGA has innovated in the mobility sector and its new WHILL powerchair represents a further reiteration of this renowned heritage. WHILL from TGA is a pioneering electric wheelchair known as a ‘Personal Electric Vehicle’ (PEV) – it is sleek, compact, hi-tech and delivers levels of manoeuvrability never seen before in the UK. Developed in Japan by former Toyota and Nissan engineers, WHILL has been in production for 18 months however it is being introduced to the UK market for the first time by TGA. WHILL is a next generation product that encapsulates a new concept in contemporary independent living. In addition to trustworthy 4-wheel-drive (4WD) performance WHILL encompasses revolutionary all directional drive and kerb climbing front wheels – a world first for powerchair design. The pioneering drivability and remarkable comfort and stability provided by WHILL can be experienced first-hand on the TGA test track at The Mobility Roadshow. WHILL is the ideal powerchair for style conscious individuals who are seeking greater independence at home, at work or when travelling. Conventional powered wheelchair design has been replaced by a cutting-edge PEV concept that is streamlined and modern – built with the latest technology and a precision finish. The all-directional front wheels encompass 24 rollers that rotate sideways when turning WHILL – resulting in lateral movement without the need for a rotating castor. This means WHILL can turn 360 degrees on its own axis – delivering a turning circle of a mere 71cm. These patented 9.8’ wheels also have the ability to climb 3’’ kerbs so urban and city environments are now more accessible than ever. When users are not benefiting from remarkable manoeuvrability in lifts, shops and offices, WHILL has the capability to power over rougher rural terrain. Traditionally sand and gravel have proven extremely challenging for powered wheelchairs with most products unable to function on these surfaces – WHILL rewrites this convention. With its powerful 4WD drive system and large 12.5’’ rear wheels it can negotiate uneven surfaces and propel users up a 10-degree slope without loss of stability or traction. Read more... Read more Daniel Salter, aged 30 from Sudbury, is taking on his second sporting challenge for The J’s Hospice to add a powerpack to the charity’s pioneering new folding wheelchair – donated by TGA Mobility.
Daniel is a keen cyclist and runner and works as a mobility product consultant for TGA, the UK-leading mobility scooter and product specialist based in Suffolk. Last year, he signed up for the 2016 Chelmsford Marathon which is organised by The J’s Hospice. It was his first ever marathon and he was inspired to do something special for the charity, so he asked his employer to donate a lightweight and ergonomic StrongBack wheelchairand TGA kindly agreed. The J's Hospice charity improves the lives of young adults (aged 16-40) with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families across Essex, in the comfort of their own homes. When Daniel delivered the wheelchair to The J’s, he was delighted to meet some of the hospice’s nurses, healthcare assistants and a patient. They were so pleased with the wheelchair that he decided to support them again – this time on his bicycle! The Pedal for The J’s cycle ride starts and finishes at Admiral’s Park in Chelmsford on Sunday 30th April. Cyclists have a choice of three routes through the beautiful Essex countryside – 15, 35 and 50 miles - plus a new 2-mile, off-road Pedal in the Park ride for families with younger children on their bikes, trikes and scooters. Daniel has signed up for the 50 mile / 80 km ride as his latest charitable challenge and asked TGA if they would kindly help him to support The J’s Hospice again. Read more...

Stacie, aged 8, was the lucky winner of our #TrevorTheTurtle free prize draw at Kidz to Adultz Middle last month. http://bit.ly/2oaAxns Despite living with walking difficulties and severe asthma, Roy Dyer, 47, from Barnstaple, has been able to fulfil his passion for wildlife photography thanks to his new off-road ‘Harley Davidson’ TGA mobility scooter. Roy lives near Barnstaple in north Devon and is a highly positive individual and takes each day as it comes. He lives with major breathing challenges and regularly experiences severe asthma attacks, exasperated by only having one working lung. This condition resulted in Roy having to reluctantly take early retirement from his career in welding, manufacturing and engineering which he thoroughly enjoyed. As a flexible character with a ‘go getting’ and ‘put his hand to anything’ attitude, living with restricted freedom is unbearable for Roy. To remain independent, he invested in a mobility scooter a few years ago however it did not have the performance or capabilities to tackle the many rural tracks and trails in picturesque Devon. Roy regularly visited Exmoor however with a new desire to fulfil his passion for photography, he was desperate to reach the more remote areas. This has just become possible with ownership of a new rugged TGA Supersport mobility scooter. The TGA Supersport is like no other mobility scooter, in fact it doesn’t resemble a mobility scooter at all. Looking more like a classic Harley Davidson motorcycle, the black and chrome 3-wheel Supersport is popular with countryside residents and groups such as the Disabled Ramblers as it has proven off-road performance. It incorporates large wheels for superb traction up hills, robust suspension, a powerful motor and outstanding manoeuvrability – enhanced by an impressive battery range of up to 30 miles. These features mean riders can drive in comfort over grass, gravel and rocky uneven surfaces whilst remaining safe and stable. This instils peace of mind in owners so they feel comfortable venturing further afield especially as the Supersport is renowned for assured reliability. Roy is now taking his scooter, with confidence, into the unknown around Exmoor to photograph the most beautiful wildlife and scenery he can find. Roy explains: “All my life I have wanted to get into photography but never got round to it. However now my condition is life threating at any point, it is important I get the most out of each day. So I’ve stopped smoking and bought myself a decent camera. Add to this my Supersport scooter and I am now able to go out and photograph whatever wildlife I want; I’ve even had one of my pictures published in a local paper. The next subject matter I am focusing on is the night sky so I’m using my scooter to transport kit into the moors to shoot time lapse pictures after dark, you wouldn’t believe the colours you can capture.” Read more.... Mike graduated from Reading University and served in the Police Force for seven years. In 1990, he was assaulted whilst on duty in Gosport resulting in major injuries to his lower spine. He subsequently underwent several back operations which stabilised his vertebrate for 15 years during which time he could walk again. He returned to higher education and qualified with a degree in Radiography which led to a position at the Conquest Hospital, East Sussex. Following another seven years in a job he enjoyed, Mike began to feel pain and weakness in his legs again. He was forced to give up his position with the NHS and since then his condition has deteriorated. All associated with his original injury aged 28, Mike now has to manage continual pain resulting from a multitude of issues including a collapsed spine above his original fusion, multi-site osteoarthritis, nerve damage, leg paralysis and a cyst on the brain. Despite these challenges Mike focuses on being positive and is able to remain more independent thanks to a powerchair, Motability adapted car and a Rotoflex bed. The Rotoflex from Theraposture is an electrically operated bed that encompasses powered profiling, height adjustment and a rotational action that moves Mike from a lying to a fully upright seated position – ready for a safe wheelchair or sit-to-stand transfer. The Rotoflex means Mike can start his day on his own terms – a vital solution for him. Mike explains: “I was originally provided with a profiling bed by Social Services as I needed to keep my spine moving at night to avoid severe stiffness. Plus this stopped my kneecaps being dislocated when I am turned. However the only problem was that I was unable to get in and out bed independently because my quad muscles were too weak and I required two carers to assist me. I needed to find a better solution.” Read more: http://www.theraposture.co.uk/docs/mike-wardle-nurological-paralysis-osteoarthritis-case-study.pdf Mascot care cot preferred choice for parents and disabled children at Kidz to Adultz Middle Event3/24/2017 THERAPOSTURE AND ITS POWER-ADJUSTABLE MASCOT CARE COT HAVE RECEIVED POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM FAMILIES AND DISABLED CHILDREN VISITING KIDZ-TO- ADULTZ-MIDDLE (16TH MARCH 2017, RICOH ARENA, COVENTRY).
