Daniel Salter, aged 30 from Sudbury, is taking on his second sporting challenge for The J’s Hospice to add a powerpack to the charity’s pioneering new folding wheelchair – donated by TGA Mobility.
Daniel is a keen cyclist and runner and works as a mobility product consultant for TGA, the UK-leading mobility scooter and product specialist based in Suffolk. Last year, he signed up for the 2016 Chelmsford Marathon which is organised by The J’s Hospice. It was his first ever marathon and he was inspired to do something special for the charity, so he asked his employer to donate a lightweight and ergonomic StrongBack wheelchairand TGA kindly agreed. The J's Hospice charity improves the lives of young adults (aged 16-40) with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families across Essex, in the comfort of their own homes. When Daniel delivered the wheelchair to The J’s, he was delighted to meet some of the hospice’s nurses, healthcare assistants and a patient. They were so pleased with the wheelchair that he decided to support them again – this time on his bicycle! The Pedal for The J’s cycle ride starts and finishes at Admiral’s Park in Chelmsford on Sunday 30th April. Cyclists have a choice of three routes through the beautiful Essex countryside – 15, 35 and 50 miles - plus a new 2-mile, off-road Pedal in the Park ride for families with younger children on their bikes, trikes and scooters. Daniel has signed up for the 50 mile / 80 km ride as his latest charitable challenge and asked TGA if they would kindly help him to support The J’s Hospice again. Read more...
